Frequently asked questions

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Yes, your dog must be up to date with vaccinations, please bring the vaccination record with you. Please also ensure your dog is up to date with worming and flea treatment. The kennel cough vaccination is also recommended.

Does my dog need to be neutered?

No, but please ring to discuss if your bitch will be in season and we can make arrangements to accommodate her without any troublesome males!

What discounts do you offer?

We offer discounts for regular customers, multi dog stays and longer stays. Please ask for more information.

Can I see what my dog is up to?

Of course, we can send regular texts or emails with photos of what your dog is up to during their stay.

Are you qualified to look after dogs?

The owner, Jo Wheeler BA (Hons), PgDip, FdSc (canine behaviour), is licensed by the local authority, fully insured and trained in dog first aid and handling. Jo has had years of experience looking after dogs. She also helps out in training clubs in the area.

What is a typical day at dog day care?

A day at dog day care involves a combination of walks, play sessions, training and treats, with lots of fuss and attention. If you want your dog to follow a specific routine please let us know!

Can I bring my dog's own bed and toys?

Of course, although we have plenty of comfortable dog beds and fun toys you are welcome to bring your dog's own luxuries.

My dog is on medication / special diet

No problem, just explain this on your booking form and we can discuss your requirements.

What areas do you cover?

For dog walking and pet sitting we cover from Lambourn to Newbury including Thatcham, Kintbury and Hungerford and surrounding villages.

What areas do you walk in?

In a variety of places, but mainly commons, woods or parks. All areas offer security, interesting smells and allow a good run. Dogs will be walked on lead, and then, if you request it, off lead (if they have a good recall and once they get to know us).

My dog doesn't like walking in a group

No problem - we can arrange solo walks and ensure that your dog gets plenty of exercise and fun without mixing with other dogs.

Do you collect the dog from home?

If you choose the dog walking service, then yes. If you would prefer us to collect your dog for day care or home boarding, we can - the cost will depend on where you live. Please contact us to discuss.

Do you need house keys?

We can hold a copy of your house keys if we are walking or pet sitting regularly. This provides an excellent back up, should you be delayed at work, need someone to visit or check on your loved one or simply let you back into your house if you have locked yourself out.

How many dogs do you walk at once?

We take safety very seriously, so we don't take any more than two or three dogs out at a time (depending on the dogs). We only have two dogs to stay when we home board so we can provide plenty of one to one attention.

What time do you walk?

If you are using our walking service, we usually walk take your dogs out in the middle of the day to break the day up, or a time that suits you. If your dog is staying with us they get three walks a day.
